i've just started school. today marks the end of my 1st week at school.

BOO!!

how's everyone doing? this is a short but ever sweet announcement that there WON'T be cell this coming friday, 23rd June. this is because quite a number of us would be involved in the t2t mentoring this week as well as helping out in Sonic Fest.

Thus, we'll be meeting again on the 30th! the very, very, very last day of June.

for those who are holidaying, enjoy urselves! for those who are mugging while holidaying, hang in there k! November is coming pretty soooon. (:

last cell session: our speech

Hi everyone,

How are you all doing?? Great to hear from Sufern in the previous post!!! Very encouraging indeed!! Keep praying Sufern...and we too as a cell!! Yippee!!

Last cell time, we discussed about our manner of speech and many of us understaood a few points. Gossiping, complaining, using God's name in vain are all wrong. But what about the in between? We ended cell with more questions than answers and below is the summary of the questions many of us posed...

What about saying "Gosh" or any other harmless word in place of "f - - - " or "s - - - "? Example: Pastor Jenn preached that she replaced a bad word with "char kway tiao". Is this alright really?
What about if we're venting our frustrations because of an unexpected event and in the spur of the moment, we say "Oh my ___ ". Isn't supposed to be natural and if we can't say anything then, to quote, "wouldn't Christians be so boring and our lives a silent movie?"
How do youths know which is not appropriate when all their friends are sprouting colourful words even in a Christian school? What is the Biblical principle behind it all?

With that, perhaps it would be best if all of us take some time to search the scriptures for verses that would give us answers. Consolidate it and we'll discuss our answers at the following cell in two weeks' time (not 9th June). Have a blessed time!

Hi hi hi! I think all of you are at church camp.. so you'd only read this when you're back.. hehe hope you all having fun!

Got a testimony to share! Well you see, for the past two mission trips I've been on, God has provided me the money to go in the form of scholarships! But this year, I didn't apply for one, so I told God that I needed Him to provide for me and I know He will. And TA-DAH! 2 jobs landed in my hands! Thank God! I think the amount of money I can save is enough to tide me through a school trip to London, and a mission trip end of year. I've already started work baby-sitting, and the other one I'm starting tomorrow onwards, working at Expo, afternoon and night shifts. So I'd be M.I.A this wk!!

Have faith and KNOW in your heart that God provides in many many many (and also mysterious) ways!

Yeah! And I want to update you on my grandma! It's been a while since she left hospital and thank you all for your prayers! I gave her some chinese Christian material and she wasn't really interested but I knew she took the effort to read them because of me. And she mentioned that when she was young, someone told her about Jesus before, but she wasn't keen on religion then. I hope to set a good example for her, in fact after that incident we're much closer than before. Going to start attending Chinese service regularly soon :) Really cannot bear to think of not seeing grandparents in Heaven :(

Went to GDOP last night, it was AWESOME! When I walked into the Stadium my hair stood because it was just amazing to see sooooo many people worship God together. At the National Stadium! Must thank God for our government to allow us to openly express our faith like this! It was a 24,000 strong crowd, one voice, one unity in prayer and worship, exalting our God because He is more deserving of it than we can ever imagine. We prayed in Chinese, English, Malay, and Tamil! It was great! I have extra GDOP booklets if anyone wants. Ohoh and we were each given a country's flag when we entered the Stadium. During the program we prayed for the country that we had. Man, it's better than the World Cup I tell you, to see everyone waving their flat in the air as we sang "Great Awakening (Lord Pour Out Your Spirit)". Who needs World Cup?!?!?! GDOP can already! Heh heh.. :D

Thanks for everyone's prayers over the past week for THE JOKERS!! Three supporters from our cell caught in action... They were under the sun baking a little.. And their presence was not half half ok... ALL THE WAY till the finals..(although our dear jokers didn't make it that far..) Three cheers for their great attitude..one that just gives freely of their time for the kingdom's cause!!

Carmen, Lishan, Charmaine, HsienSheng and Siewlee were there too!!! But didn't manage to catch them and chat with them.. Most of them were so cute with their t2t kids! Wonderful how they have invested so wisely in the lives of their students!! Always looking to eternity!!

TOday's surekickabout was a success!!! Thanks to many people and of course to our dear LORD!! The whole event was about Him to begin with...:)

Below is a picture of my marsiling students who were present too. The team Marsiling Wellington didn't progress far but gave the crowd good value for their money with their tough tackles and unending attempts at goal till the final whistle. Marcus cheered them on throughout!! Good friends already..

Looking forward to cell this coming week!! I'm sure there is an exciting program coming up!! Awaiting Abby's update on this week's cell....heh heh.

BOO!! it's me again..

*points down at eelyn's post* i think it'll be a great opportunity to meet and interact with the t2t kids. perhaps some of ya might be busy during that period preparing for projects, tests, exams and all else that should be banned BUT.. i believe that even as we decide to serve with a willing heart, God won't shortchange us! plus, it'll be a good motivation to do our prep work early so we won't be stuck with last min mugging. (:

SUREKick's happening this Saturday!! kudos to the becca and the entire team who helped coordinate, plan and organise everything. Do keep our adopted team, The Jokers, in prayers k? Pray for their friend Sng Yi who's a pre-believer, that this event will be a stepping stone to him knowing Christ and experiencing His love. Would be great if we could go down to support them as well.. so do think about it eh?

Last but not least, (this may be a little abrupt).. Wedding Bells will ring for Joshua Khoo and Sharon Lin in the month of July!! and we're ALL invited!! it's taking place on 1st July 2006 @St. John St. Margaret's Church @10.30am. will pass around the coool invite on friday so you guys can take a look.

June PSLE Mentoring Programme

The June PSLE Mentoring Programme is open to the P6 students of T2T, UR and their non-believing friends, with the following objectives:

a. To bridge the P6 students of T2T, UR and their non-believing friends.
b. To help and interest the above P6 students in Mathematics.
c. To partner UR in bridging with the community.

Dates : 22nd, 23rd and 24th June 2006 (Thursday~Saturday)
Time : 12.45pm to 5.45pm (include briefing, prayers and debrief time)
Venue : New Town Primary School

On top of giving Maths tuition, there will also be games and refreshments during the mentoring programme. The children will be taken on an outing of a fun and exciting place where they will be able to integrate what he or she has learnt in the classroom on the last day, 24th June.

Yes, you are wanted to tutor and befriend the children at the mentoring programme. Volunteers are expected to attend a compulsory briefing and prayer session on Sunday 11 June @ 1.15pm-4pm.

Oh yes, besides being bridges of blessings, you may consider using the above programme as part of your school community involvement programme! (CIP hours can be counted)

the Da Vinci Code. -watched.

hey everyone, just thought i'll post this here too.

watched 'The Da Vinci Code' today at the new Cathay with glenn, char and eugenia.it was pretty alright and interesting if you ask me.i mean, i didnt read the book or anything.. cos i was too lazy to make an effort to get hold of the book. but i may and will soon.

church history. true yet blown out of proportion.

like in the seminar last night.. 'counterfeits always have some truth/orignality in them'. it has somehow brought some interest in church history which i may go read up about. The Priory of Sion, Council of A (i cant rem how to spell) Holy Grail and etc. pretty interesting that part.

one thing that struck me was, when Sophie said to Robert, 'We are what we protect.'

so i was thinking, what do we protect? and do we really become what we protect?

for example, if we protect say, pride. do we become prideful? or, if we protect love, do we become a person full of love?

worth thinking about? go think!

i just thought that was thought provoking if you ask me.. the one thing that struck me personally. :)

and in the show, you see that even your friends may betray you just for the sake of their own selfish desires. loyalties are being compromised.

to err is human.

reminds me that tho man may fail us, God never fails us. His loyalty to us to steadfast yet at times we are usually the ones who fail Him.

also, at the end of the show.. (shall not be a spoiler here..) Robert tells Sopie, 'Its what you choose to believe in.' So, i'm like.. hmmm, okay.

So in a situation where we are all surrounded by 'bad' people of 'bad influence', its really up to us to be 'led' on.. it shows me, Self-Control and Discipline and your STAND in Christ. (or whatever you believe in). and also, Standing and Choosing to Believe what you WANT to believe and NOT what OTHERS WANT you to believe. See, Robert says, 'what you choose.' It is really what WE CHOOSE. a matter of choice.

ok, so point is.. GO WATCH THE SHOW TO FIND OUT.

so, im really glad im attending 'Let My People Think' Seminar. It talks about faith and apologetics. Blind faith and Truth. it does kinda fall in line with today's movie. :)

hey all! i've decided to blog..seems like only eelyn and becca are blogging so i shall make my debut entry=D anyway..how's everyone been? there's no cell this week so didnt get to see everyone and i wont be able to make it for cell on 5th may cos i'm attending rj's dance night=D

anyway..this week has been yet another hectic week..i'm sooooo glad for the may day holiday on monday..long weekend!*woohoo!* i've been training like crazy cos we're having our last ever competition on the 13th may..been diving and frollicking in mud like mad..and now i have ugly abrasion and cuts all over my legs and hands..i look abused but *shrugs*...they will go away..at least thats wad i hope..

corporate prayer on friday was pretty interesting..it's like the first corporate prayer i've been for since like dunno how many years..i remember the last time i went i was so bored..(but i was youngER then and that time no one liked praying -.- ) but yesterday was good..praying together as one BIG body is quite an experience..seriously..and believe it or not..i was more awake after corporate prayer than i was before i went! hah..and even trix agreed=D anyway...my point is that corporate prayer is really not that boring..everyone shld try to come for the next one..shld be last week of every month..

all right..i've said enuff..it's time to go for my morning jog..seeya all in church then! and becca dear..i want a template for my blog!hehh.. and to everyone else..enjopy ur mayday holiday!(becca cannot enjoy cos she has to slog and do up my blog template*cheeky grin*)

Hi everyone,

it's finally thursday...a day to celebrate the approaching weekend!! In class, I've been getting the days of the week wrong every single day and my students kept sniggering at me. TSK! But finally...it's thursday and that's good news for me!!

So what do you all think of the "Let my ppl Think Seminar" ?? It seems quite interesting... Those who are keen should get together to sign up... Greater push to go.. hee.

For those who are sleep deprived yet longing for 25 hour days to complete more revision, do take heart that you are not alone. Just do the best you can, relax and stop worrying. Commit the unending tasks to the Lord. Holidays are round the corner.. :)

No cell this week so we can't play the card game...the challenge will wait! heh heh heh...

Just about done with all my tests this week as well as meeting my deadlines so thought I’ll post a lil entry to explain how the term ‘Rocky’ got coined.

Setting: After having erupted into a violent fit of giggles caused by the One Who Shall Not Be Named, 4 girls calm down and turn back to the BS topic they were studying during cell: The Parable of the Sower.

*Abby lets out a small chuckle, having just thought about the joke that had just been made*

Van: eh Abby! What you thinking about ah?
Abby: Nothing, I wasn’t thinking about anything.
Carmen: Oh.. must be thinking about Someone special right?

[Playwright’s note: at this point, it’s highly likely that Carmen, being who she is, would have concluded that she’s that Special Someone]

Becca: Yeah! Must be!! (laughs)

*Abby rolls her eyes*

Abby: yeah, yeah. How’d you know? I was thinking about err.. Rocky!! (see Luke 8:6)

*Pandemonium breaks out as everyone eagerly interrogates Abby on who this mysterious ‘Rocky’ is*

Abby:(calmly) I was referring to Jesus! He’s the Rock of our salvation!!

the rest, as they say, is History.

I do apologise for any factual errors, intentional or not, cos this incident happened a mitey long time ago. (:

The above pic is cool!! People rushing..vision blurred.. Living for the adrenaline rush of a goal being achieved and perfected...*shudders* addictive indeed!

Yet the same picture brings to mind Psalm 46:

10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." 11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

In all our haste, may we catch hold of ourselves and know that no amount of rushing would accomplish anything if we fail to see that God is in control of everything and He alone holds the results that are best for us.

Yesterday i pulled a few of my sec 2 students aside and asked them to join the surekickabout'06. They are malay boys and are of the cutest kind... Of course i explained that this was organised by my church. After i asked them, doubts started to cloud my mind and i didn't know if what i did was right. How to answer to their parents that I invited them to a church event? Nonetheless, I believed what i did was from God and stopped worrying.

TODAY, i didn't have class with them. But one of the boys (they are really cute) came up to me and said they have got their team already. My mind went "YOOHOO" and my heart leaped!! So now all that's left is to fill in the consent forms..

Pray with me yar??
